The Runnin' Horns entered the '95-96 season unranked but ready to prove they belonged. Led by junior guard Reggie Freeman the Longhorns finished the regular season 20-9. That was good enough to earn them the No. 10 seed in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Tournament.
The Longhorns upset No. 7 seed Michigan, 80-76, in the first round before losing to Tim Duncan and the No. 2 seed Wake Forest, 65-62.
